Mainers impacted by Hurricane Matthew

(NEWS CENTER) — Some Maine people are riding out the storm down south, including some of our own staff members.

Tory Ryden was down in Jacksonville visiting her mother when they found out that the northeast part of Florida was going to be hit hard by the hurricane. They listened to officials and left the state and are waiting it out in Alabama.

Other Mainers actually headed toward the storm. Chris Smith from Monmouth said he and his family had a vacation to Orlando planned for months, and they decided to chance it and head down there despite the forecast. Chris sent us these videos from the hotel they are staying at. He said the city is shut down and most everyone is hunkered down inside while they wait for the storm to pass, but he and his family are not too panicked.
