Flooding a concern as heavy rainfall hits southern Maine

(NEWS CENTER) — Thunderstorms and rainfall are moving into southern Maine, and flooding is likely.

The National Weather Service sent an emergency text alert at 10:40 p.m. near the Portland area warning of flash floods until 1:45 a.m.

Around 9:55 p.m., the worst of the storms were forecast to hit Limerick at 9:56 p.m., Buxton at 10:09 p.m., Westbrook at 10:29 p.m. and Falmouth at 10:47 p.m.

An urban and small stream flood advisory until 12:30 a.m. was issued around 9:44 p.m.

A flood advisory until 12:30 a.m was issued for several southern Maine counties around 9:46 p.m.
