Todd Gutner Blog- Cold with a side of snow?

Many woke up to the first snow of the season, as cold air poured back into New England.

I saw my first flakes of the season traveling back from Connecticut last evening!  There may be a few additional flakes today as some upper level energy swings through.

Heading through the week, the jetstream will remain pretty flat, preventing air masses from colliding.  So, a storm-free stretch is expected Tuesday through Friday.

The weekend is looking more interesting...the jetstream will dig south and a potent shortwave will take on a negative tilt, spawning coastal low pressure to flare up at the surface.  The surface low and the upper level energy may interact enough to produce a decent amount of precipitation Friday night and Saturday.

With a lack of deep cold through the layer, precip type may be tough to pin down.  But, another round of accumulating snow is very possible.

Of course, if you are traveling for the holiday, be safe and have a happy Thanksgiving.
