This dry airmass is more refreshing than a photo posted WITHOUT an Instagram effect. (Speaking of, have you seen Rich Kids of Instagram? It's ALL the rage on the interwebs. Look through it and tell me you don't want to fight every single one of those kids within 30 seconds.) Anyhow, back to the airmass. Crisp air from Canada has moved in this morning in the wake of the stubborn, slow moving cold front that finally pushed offshore late last evening. Dew points will stay in the 40s and 50s, complimented perfectly with sunny skies to make for a spectacular end to the weekend.
Today: Mostly sunny, crisp and beautiful. Winds start out of the northwest but turn onshore later in the afternoon. Highs in the upper 70s to low 80s.
Tonight: Mostly clear and cool. The combination of the dry air, clear skies, and light winds will allow temperatures to drop QUICKLY. (#radiationalcooling) Look for many areas to fall into the 40s with the coastline staying in the low 50s.
Monday: More clouds around when compared to Sunday but still pleasant. We will call it a mixture of sun and clouds with temperatures in the upper 70s to low 80s.
Tuesday: Another pleasant day, still an even mixture of sun and clouds with perhaps a FEW isolated mountain showers in the afternoon.
In reality from Monday through Wednesday there will be some instability around so showers can't be TOTALLY ruled out but the best chance appears to be Wednesday afternoon. The setup: (if you care) that cold front from yesterday is offshore BUT not that far offshore. As it lingers to our east a few low pressure systems will develop in the Gulf of Mexico and use the front as a "track" and ridge up the coastline towards us. None of them will directly impact Maine but they will come close enough a few times (Wednesday) to give us a few scattered showers and thunderstorms.
High pressure takes over ("We takin over!") by Thursday and gives us a beautiful stretch to end the work week. Looks like sunshine from Thursday through Saturday.
