NEWS CENTER-- The Oxford 250 has been run on the 3rd weekend of July since 2004. That weekend ususally coincides with the open week in the schedule on NASCARS sprint car circuit which has allowed big name drivers to come to Maine and compete. Now, the 250 is moving. The historic race, which is one of the richest short-track races in the country, will move to the final weekend of August. Next year will be the 42nd running of the 250 and moving it to the end of August matches up with the new NASCAR Sprint Cup Schedule which was released by NBC yesterday. That same weekend of the 250 is an off weekend for the cup drivers if they wanted to come to Maine for a little rubbin' and racing action.
