BOSTON, Massachusetts (NEWS CENTER) -- The Red Sox completed a sweep of the Royals on Sunday, shutting out Kansas City 6-0. The Red Sox are now 8 game out of first in the AL East Standings.

Dustin Pedroia got the scoring started in the first with a base hit up the middle. Brock Holt came home, and Boston went up 1-0.

In the third, Daniel Nava got under one and sent it bouncing into the right field seats. The ground rule double brought in two more Boston runs to make the score 3-0 Red Sox.

One on for David Ross in the fourth when he sent the ball soaring to left, and it came down in the monster seats. Ross's sixth home run of the year made it 5-0 Red Sox.

Nava came up with a sac fly to center in the fourth to score Jackie Bradley Junior and bring the score to 6-0 Red Sox. That would be the final score.

Jon Lester had another outstanding outing for the Sox, giving up just 4 hits through 8 innings.
