(NEWS CENTER) -- Former State Treasurer Bruce Poliquin has taken a couple of shots at elective office in recent years, running in Republican primaries for governor and U.S. Senate. Now he's got his sights set on Maine's second district Congressional seat. Poliquin is In The Arena with Pat Callaghan.
Over the last 40 years, the Republicans elected to that seat have been moderates such as William Cohen and Olympia Snowe who were willing to compromise with the other side. Poliquin talks about whether he would be part of that tradition or be more of a hard-line conservative.
He also discusses claims by his opponents that he is an outsider since he only recently moved into the second district.
Bruce Poliquin has been outspoken against what he calls 'career politicians.' He talks about whether that affects his support for Sen. Susan Collins, a fellow Republican seeking her fourth term.
Poliquin also shares his views on social issues such as abortion and same-sex marriage, and fiscal issues including health care and making changes in government entitlement programs.
