VERNON, Conn. (NEWS CENTER) - Police in Vernon, Connecticut said the missing mother and children at the center of an Amber Alert were found in Bangor before noon on Tuesday. The Bangor Police have taken the mother and children into custody from a Bangor motel. The Vernon Police said they are going to Bangor to interview 32-year-old Jackie Morris.

Police issued a statewide Amber alert for Morris's three children - 9-year-old Ryan Lewis, and Dylan and Brandan Lewis, who are both 7. Officials said Morris has ties to Connecticut, Massachusetts and Maine, which led to a regional search.

Morris's car was found at the Hilton Garden Inn on Haskell Road in Bangor. Police confirmed she was there, and she was arrested without incident.

"You know, so often we see these Amber Alerts, and people end up getting killed. They end up on the wrong side. It is not a very happy story at all. So I'm really thankful. I'm really happy. I'm really relieved that Vernon had called us so early in this investigation, that our officers worked so quickly and so hard to find this woman and her kids," said Bangor Police Lt. Paul Edwards.

The children were found in good condition and police said they will be returned to their father. Edwards said, "They were just sitting there having happy meals in here a little while ago. One of the guys in here bought them happy meals. They're watching cartoons and waiting for Dad to come."

Police said Morris was supposed to return the children to the father but Morris never dropped the children off. The father then alerted authorities.

The police said they plan on filing criminal charges against Morris. She's being held at the Penobscot County Jail.
