(NEWS CENTER) – South Portland Police say a two hour fight led to three arrests and one person sent to hospital with wounds from an "edged" weapon.
Lt. Frank Clark of the South Portland Police Department said officers had been called to Cannon Road around midnight for a disturbance. Officers left the scene after finding no evidence of a fight.
Clark said at approximately 2:08 a.m. Saturday morning, officers returned for a routine check and encountered several individuals, evidence including a significant amount of blood and a knife. Police say evidence led them to believe someone was severely injured.
Officials say, with help from the Portland Police Department's K-9 unit, they were able to locate a possible victim. Police say a 23-year-old man was transported by EMS to the Maine Medical Center for treatment.
Clark says the people who remained at the scene were "less than cooperative."
South Portland Police arrested 24-year-old Sugelle Warsame of South Portland, Alex Julien, 24-years-old of Portland and 21-year-old Steeve Alphonse of Cambridge, Massachusetts, all on disorderly conduct charges.
Clark says the incident remains under investigation and will be referred to the District Attorney's Office for potential additional charges.
