BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER)-- The Maine Garden Show is bringing Spring to Bangor.
"Everyone just kind of has cabin fever. They want to come out and kind of enjoy Spring even though it's not Spring outside, it's Spring in here," said Justin Difrederico, the Landscape Coordinator for the show.
The annual Garden Show and Spring Fling opened its doors to a long line of people Friday morning, all of them looking to Spring forward.
"We were here before the doors opened. There were ten of us and we're split up and we're all around. This is a beautiful show," said a member of The Red Hat Society.
This was a year of firsts for the Garden Show. The new Cross Insurance Center hosted the venue and the extra space was a necessity for the almost one hundred and thirty vendors, the most the event has ever had.
"There were many, many booths, I couldn't pick one over the other," said the member.
Along with vendors the show also features gardening and design demonstrations as well guest speakers on everything from bees to peonies. But, the center pieces are the landscape exhibits.
"We have these eight beautiful exhibits that are really well landscaped. We have a theme this year of family backyard fun, and so they're really designed with the intent to involve the whole family," Difrederico said.
"We just really tried to have something for everyone and every age," said the Events Coordinator for the show, Kelly Donnelly.
The Garden Show brings a little warmth and sunshine to the cold, wet start of April. But as the old saying goes- April showers bring May flowers. And the event organizers just hope that the show will inspire families to make their Spring beautiful.
Donnelly said, "I just want them to be ready for Spring, have a good time, enjoy themselves, enjoy time with the family, and take away ideas for their own backyards and their own gardens."
