Mark Tipton & Sorciere Perdu perform a piece of the composition Tipton wrote for the silent horror movie "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari" 207
The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari is a creepy piece of classic cinema.
The film, made in 1919, is largely considered to be the first horror movie. And since it was made in 1919, it has no talking. The film generally comes with a full length soundtrack.
Mark Tipton saw that and said, "I can do that!"
Tipton is a classically trained musician and has scored a number of movies along with purely instrumental work. He gathered up the musicians from one of his projects, Les Sorciers Perdus, to perform the soundtrack live at a screening of The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari at SPACE Gallery in Portland.
