FORT KENT, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Saturday was an exciting day for the First Lady of Maine.
Ann LePage, along with retired U.S. Army Staff Sergeant and quadruple amputee Travis Mills, took a leap of faith in Fort Kent. The pair went skydiving as part of Freedom Fest.
This year is the first year of Freedom Fest - an outdoor concert that's raising money to build a Veterans Museum and Community Center in Northern Maine.
Travis Mills says when the event's organizers asked him to do the jump, he said he would do it only if Mrs. LePage did it as well. To his surprise, she said yes.
"When Paul was elected governor, I chose to support our men and women in uniform," Mrs. LePage said. "And I'm trying to do everything that I can to keep it real and don't just talk the talk, but walk the walk too."
Freedom Fest's organizers don't know exactly how much money they've raised yet, but they say it's been so successful, they plan on doing it again next year.
