PENOBSCOT BAY, Maine (NEWS CENTER) – The Coast Guard completed their search of Penobscot Bay Wednesday morning, but did not find anything.

The Coast Guard said watch standers at the Coast Guard Sector Northern New England in Portland received a distress call Tuesday over VHF-Channel 16. The individual said, "Help Coast Guard I need some help I'm going underwater."

The Coast Guard said that they treat all calls as distress and cannot speculate whether it was a fake distress call or not.

The Coast Guard narrowed the caller's position to Eggemoggin Reach using its Rescue 21 radio system. They used boats, an airplane and a helicopter.
