ALFRED, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Two men have been arrested for their involvement in a bomb threat that cleared out the York County Courthouse building in February.
Bert Stroud of Saco has already pleaded guilty to terrorizing for his role. Gilbert Perez was arraigned on the same charge Today. Investigators say the threat was called in because Perez did not want to appear in court that day.
"Shortly into the investigation Gilbert Perez became a person of interest because he was scheduled to be sentenced on February 10th for assaulting a man in Lebanon", said York County Chief Deputy Bill King.
With the sentencing canceled Perez experienced a few more days of freedom. But now he'll be spending more time behind bars because of his role in the bomb threat.
Investigators say Perez supplied Stroud with heroin in exchange for him calling in the threat. The disruption and response cost taxpayers an estimated 25-thousand dollars. Investigators say they're working to get the suspects to reimburse at least some of that money.
