LEWISTON, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- State Police have charged a Lewiston man with running a huge counterfeit operation of Maine inspection stickers.

Last week troopers uncovered the operation being run out of a home at 1223 Sabattus Road in Lewiston, owned by 31-year-old Percy Hutchins. Troopers searched the house and seized 27 counterfeit inspection stickers, in addition to ten others seized earlier in the investigation. Also seized were glass encased proofs, computers and a printer. Troopers believe Hutchins has been printing the bogus stickers since 2010 and may have produced hundreds and possibly thousands of counterfeit stickers. Those stickers were distributed throughout central Maine where they we sold for $100 or more.

Hutchins was charged with aggravated forgery and transported to the Androscoggin County Jail.
