PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Members of the rock band Seether greeted fans in Portland Friday ahead of the Rise Above Fest on the Bangor Waterfront.
Portland radio station WCYY hosted a meet and greet outside its studios at One City Center. Rise Above Fest promotes awareness and education about suicide. It's a cause that hits home for Seether lead singer Shaun Morgan, who lost his brother to suicide. He organized the festival along with SAVE, which stands for Suicide Awareness Voices of Education. The national organization works to educate people about mental illness and depression.
In addition to meeting the band, fans had the chance to enter a raffle to win a custom designed poker table worth $60 thousand. The proceeds from the raffle and a portion of proceeds from the concert will benefit SAVE.
