BANGOR, Maine (AP) - Testimony is set to begin in a trial where two men are accused of killing three Maine residents who were found inside a torched rental car.

Attorneys gave opening statements Thursday in the trials of Randall Daluz of Brockton, Massachusetts, and Nicholas Sexton of Warwick, Rhode Island. They're charged with three counts of murder.

A judge has said proceedings resuming Friday could last around two weeks.

Prosecutors say they will present evidence that Daluz and Sexton committed the murders, but that their exact motives might remain unclear.

Sexton's attorney says the evidence won't prove his client committed the crimes. Daluz's attorney said the state lacks evidence to prove his client was at the scene.

The car, with Rhode Island license plates, was found ablaze in August 2012 in Bangor.
