MOUNT DESERT ISLAND (NEWS CENTER) -- Almost one year after the double bombing near the finish line of the 2013 Boston Marathon, the memory is fresh in the minds of those who witnessed it first hand.

Mainer Gary Allen remembers it all too well.

He has run in 21 Boston Marathons, and now, he continues to prepare daily to run in his 22nd.

Gary finished last year's race 30 minutes prior to the deadly explosions, but says that he wondered 'What If?' because he ran along the same side of Bolyston Street where the bombs were placed.

This year, he's returning to the same city with a mindset that he believes will be a common one as racers approach the starting point.
