SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- It might just seem like a breakfast pastry, but a Maine bakery received a "cease and desist" letter for selling crauxnuts.

"It's basically a fried croissant," said pastry chef Pamela Fitzpatrick.

Little BIGSwas selling the pastry, which is a cross between a donut and croissant, until early March, when a New York bakery that has copyright over the name sent them the letter. The letter said that even though the spelling is different (cronut vs crauxnut), it was too similar. Little BIGS decided to rename it to C&Ds, short for "cease and desist."

The bakery said C&Ds are immensely popular and they take orders accordingly. They only sell the pastry on Sundays.
