UPDATE:Woman found badly beaten in Sacomotelhas died, an autopsy has been scheduled for tomorrow.

SACO, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Police are investigating the beating of a homeless woman in Saco.

Department of Public Safety Spokesman Steve McCausland says 55-year-old Elizabeth Williams from Portland was found with serious injuries Saturday morning inside a room at the Sunrise Motel on Route 1 in Saco. She was discovered by cleaning staff, and she was rushed to Maine Medical Center in Portland where she is listed in critical condition.

State and Saco Police are continuing to investigate the incident to determine how Williams was injured. McCausland says detectives are speaking to anyone who may have had contact with Williams since Friday. Police have also talked to the man who rented the motel room.
