Social Media Contributor Brett Whitmarsh examines what's happening on the interwebs with a look at some trending videos, hot articles and digital spring cleaning.

MAINERS MOST WATCHED YOUTUBE VIDEO THIS WEEK

Awoman decided to secretly record her dog to see what he does when she's not at home and the result is the number one most viewed video from Mainers on YouTube this week.

MALAYSIAN PLANE SCAM

Yes, we've been trying to warn folks about a scam that is going around claiming that the missing Malaysian plane has been found. It obviously still has not, but this is being shared. When you click on it, the link tries tog ether your information. It's happening on Facebook and Twitter, but has been more on Facebook. Don't click on this link.

More information on the missing plane scam.

DOPPELGANGERS ACROSS THE GLOBE

There are many people out there who are not related but look an awful lot alike. According to the Daily Beast, since 2000, photographer Fran├žois Brunelle has been bringing these strangers together to photograph them. It's an interesting thing to watch.

HIGHLIGHTS OF YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA FEEDS

The guy who created one of the original social networks, Friendster, has now come up with a service called Nuzzel. What it does is collect all your feeds and gives you the highlights or the best of. It works with Twitter or Facebook and while I like the idea, it does have some limitations. It only lets you view the posts or click on any relevant links. It doesn't allow you to share or re-tweet or comment. Which is obviously the next logical steps. So in theory if you want to be an observer, this is great.

DIGITAL SPRING CLEANING

We often allow may other apps to access our Twitter of Facebook accounts over the years and the New York Time recently pointed out that we often lose track of who has that access to us. So it's a good time of year to log on to either Twitter or Facebook and have a look at who you've let in the door. Maybe it's time to kick them out. It's easy to do, on Twitter go into the security and apps section and look over the list, click remove access to anything you don't approve of.

Facebook you need to go through the apps section, but it's a bit more detailed. It will actually show you how much data they're collecting, but simply choosing delete will blow out the app and the data.

READ FASTER WITH SPRITZ

A

Boston based company called Spritz

has announced a new way to read things online, or in ebooks. They claim you can read a large volume of materials in a short period of time. They have a demo on their website and I have to say it's different. Unlike reading across. you focus on one spot n the screen as the words fly by. After a little practice you can see how quickly you adapt, but it is very different.

SUPERMAN'S POINT OF VIEW

What if Superman wore a GoPro camera? Well some guys in California had that idea and made this video and while the effects are a little cheesy, the idea is very cool. They also made a special behind the scenes video to show how it was done... do you want to guess? -- A drone.
