AUBURN, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- An Auburn man, who is the publisher of a local magazine, was arrested Thursday morning and has been charged with possessing child pornography.
The State Police Computer Crimes Unit arrested Joshua Shea, 38, at his home at 30 Paul Street. Shea has been charged with one count of possessing sexually explicit materials of someone under the age of 12. S
hea was transported to the Androscoggin County Jail and bail was set at $500, with conditions that he cannot have contact with children under the age of 18. He lives at his home with his wife and two children.
Shea is a former Auburn City Council member. He is also the publisher of the Lewiston-Auburn Magazine.
Detectives acted on a tip. Shea's computer was seized and will be analyzed by personnel at the computer crimes unit. Initial inspection of the computer showed hundreds of images of child pornography.
His first court date has been set for May 1.
