PRESQUE ISLE, Maine (NEWS CENTER)--While Germany signaled that it will continue to be the world's top biathlon nation, the U. S. finally got a performance that leads fans to believe that soon the red, white and blue will regularly be winning gold.

Sean Doherty of Center Conway, New Hampshire won two golds and one silver medal in Junior World Championship action.

The meet was held at the Nordic Heritage Center in Presque Isle, just after the Libra Foundation announced that it was withdrawing support from the Maine Winter Sports Center.

The Center has promoted healthy lifestyles for Mainers through skiing. It also built world class biathlon facilities in Presque Isle and Fort Kent.
