PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The snow may not be melting outside, but later this week, you can head inside for a taste of warmer weather.

The annual Portland Flower Show kicks off Wednesday night. That means exhibitors have less than 24 hours to finish landscapes that will tell a story through stones, shrubs and flowers. This year's theme is Storybook Gardens. Cozy Acres Greenhouses is using the story of Jack and the Beanstalk to show off its new zero emissions greenhouse.

"Well now Jack is years older, and here in this garden Jack is fighting another monster and that's carbon emissions," Cozy Acres owner Jeff Marstaller said. "So here, he still has his goose to fund his lifestyle, but he has produced a greenhouse that uses the sun to make its electricity, and the earth to make its heat so he has a greenhouse without emissions."

The Portland Flower Show begins Wednesday night with a gala and awards ceremony and it continues through Sunday. For more information, click here.
