NEW GLOUCESTER, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Veterans Adaptive Sports Training hosted an impressive group of veterans. All met the standards of Team Semper Fi, which works with injured veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan.

Thirteen soldiers came to Maine to be trained inthe sport of biathlon, which is skiing and shooting. The team, mostly Marines attacked the discipline with unbridled enthusiasm.

Their visit was sponsored by the Semper Fi Fund which pays for training and equipment for injured veterans who are using exercise as part of their rehabilitation.

"I've been blown up twice, so this isn't going to bother me," said Californian Ernesto Aquino who was sit-skiing agressively.

Most in the group were simply looking for the esprit de corp which they enjoyed in the military.

"They are amazing!" said Kristina Sabasteanski an Army veteran and a two-time Olympian. She now directs VAST at the Pineland Center in New Gloucester. "They are so capable and so enthusiastic. We were flying on the down hills!"

VAST works with veterans in this region on a weekly basis.
