SOCHI, Russia (NEWS CENTER) - Gustav Nyquist's disappointment with losing the gold medal game in men's hockey to Canada at the Sochi Olympics comes with a silver lining: he's just the fourth UMaine alum to medal at the Winter Games.

The other three were members of the 1993 national championship team: forwards Paul Kariya and Jean-Yves Roy as well as goalie Mike Dunham.

Kariya and Roy settled for silver with Canada in 1994 in a shootout loss to Sweden, while Kariya would avenge that loss in 2002 as the Canadians beat Dunham and Team USAfor the goldmedal at the Salt Lake City games.

Nyquist had Sweden's best scoring opportunityof the final when he beatTeam Canada goalie Carey Pricefour minutes into the game only to be denied by the post.
