FARMINGTON, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A fatal snowmobile crash happened Sunday morning.

Richard Keith Horton, a New Jersey man, was snowmobiling with two friends when his machine struck a tree on the edge of the trail.

The Maine Warden Service reports that neither speed or alcohol were contibuting factors, but they believe operator inexperience and riding on unfamiliar trails were.

Maine Game Wardens, Farmington Fire & Rescue, and State Police Troopers were all on scene.

This is Maine's third fatal snowmobile accident reported this season.
