SANFORD, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -Police say a man was assaulted and robbed Friday night in Sanford.

Sgt. Craig L. Andersen of the Sanford Police Department officers responded to a reported incident a little after 7PM Friday night. Andersen says a male victim reported he had been walking home on Tebbetts Ave when he was knocked down from behind and struck in the face. The suspect then removed the victim's wallet from his pants and fled on foot.

Police say that no weapons were displayed or threatened. The suspect is described as a white male dressed in a black hoodie. A search of the area yielded no suspects at this time.
