FREEPORT, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Members of the Freeport community are coming together to help two families who lost their homes to fires.

On January 20th, a modular home burned down on Ware Road.

Bob Argraves, his wife and two kids were not home, but the family's three pets died.

Less than 24 hours earlier, firefighters responded to a grease fire at the home next door.

Neighbors are relieved that an arsonist isn't on the loose, but they are concerned for the families, who have no insurance.

"We're all concerned planning a benefit supper to help raise money," said Christina Rice that day. She kept her promise.

Thebenefit will be heldSaturday, February 1,from 4 to 8PM at the Freeport Lodge on Mallet Drive.

Dozens of donationshave come in fromindividuals and businesses in Freeport, Brunswick and Topsham.

Handmade items:a knitted shawl, framed artwork, a painted picture, and several gift certificates.

"Valentines packages for the guys who just want to get it done," says Rice.

Also at the benefit, safety checks for your fire extinguisher. The Freeport Fire Department will be on hand, as well.
