WINDHAM, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - Firefighters from multiple communities battled a home fire late Tuesday night.

The Windham Fire Department responded to a home fire on Finley Road at approximately 11PM Tuesday night. Firefighters from Raymond, Gorham, Westbrook and well as Windham responded to fight the blaze.

Officials said cold temperatures and the small dead end road the home was located on hampered efforts to fight the fire. Finley Road is an approximately 400 yards dead end road off the Pope Road in Windham.

By the time officials arrived on scene, the two story rear addition was fully involved. Officials on scene said they believed the home owner was out of state, but that one relative was staying in the home at the time of the fire. That family member was able to get out of the home safely.

The one lane dead end road made getting water to the fire difficult. Officials were forced to set up hoses with a water pool and pump trucks to deliver the water to fight the fire.

The home appeared to suffer severe damage. Officials declined to speculate on a cause at this time.
