FORT MEYERS, Florida (WBBH) -- Video captured by a Florida Police officer's dashboard camera reminds drivers the dangers of texting while driving.

Early Saturday morning, a Fort Myers Police officer's dash cam caught images of a driver weaving in and out of lanes and slowing down for no apparent reason.

The officer continues to follow the distracted driver as he makes a wide right turn and veers onto the sidewalk, hits a guardrail, bus sign and tree before rolling over to a stop.

The 23-year-old driver was able to crawl out of the car and was not injured.

The driver was cited with careless driving and texting while driving.
