AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - More than 10,000 homes and businesses are without power because of strong winds and freezing rain.

Central Maine Power reported about 8,500 outages Monday morning, mostly in Androscoggin, Piscataquis, Somerset and Waldo Counties.

Emera Maine says about 3,300 customers are without power. The utility says crews worked over the past week to remove damaged tree limbs, but that trees are still falling due to the strong winds.

Two weeks ago, an ice storm knocked out power for more than 160,000 homes and businesses. Some customers, especially around Ellsworth, lost power for eight to 10 days.
