ORLANDO, Florida (WESH) -- Members of the Armed Citizen Project says they are looking to arm residents of an Orlando, Florida neighborhood with shotguns in an effort to stop crime.
The group's members have been going door-to-door in the Sunshine Gardens area, leaving fliers on homes to advertise free shotguns.
"No. I would not need to have a shotgun," Robin McLaughlin said.
McLaughlin has lived in the neighborhood for 25 years and said she does not see a need to arm Sunshine Gardens residents.
Ron Ritter, the program director for the state of Florida, said he hopes the group works with gun manufacturers and dealers to give free or discounted guns to homeowners.
"This is perfectly legal, permitting guns to be handed out," Ritter said.
