SCARBOROUGH, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Police in Scarborough say the driver of a Subaru Legacy was killed in a crash Tuesday morning.
The accident happened just after 7:00am on Spurwink Road (Route 77).
Investigators say the Subaru was on fire and the driver was still inside, unconscious. Another driver came upon the crash and put out the fire with an extinguisher.
The driver of the Subaru, a 72-year-old man from South Portland, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Route 77 was closed for part of the morning, but has since reopened.
Investigators say speed was likely not a factor in the crash and there are no suspicious circumstances about the accident.
