WELLS, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -25 years has passed for many of the players from the 1988 Big League Softball World Series championship team and for many of them, it's as though it happened yesterday.

Back in 1988, a team based in Portland that was predominantly comprised of players from Portland, Deering, and Bonny Eagle, along with members from York, Yarmouth, Mt. Blue, and Cony High Schools, did something that had never been done before in the state's history and never since, excluding the core that repeated as champs a year later in 1989.

The team remains the onlyrepresentatives from Maineto ever win softball's biggest prize for girls ages 16 to 18.
