GRAY, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A group of volunteers spent the day packing a trailer with donations for the youngest victims of the Oklahoma tornadoes.

Bears, Backpacks and Blessings is a fundraising effort started by the Chappell family. They recently moved from Oklahoma City to Gray. After the tornadoes, they reached out to their new community, asking for donations for children in the hardest hit areas. On Friday, two of the volunteers will begin the drive to Oklahoma to personally deliver the donated items.

we're trying to come in and just bring an extra smile, an extra dose of love, and to let them know you are so special, you are so cared about, and you will get beyond this and you will grow from this.

The group is still accepting donations. You can donate items at the American Legion in Gray, and cash donations are accepted at any TD Bank. You can also donate online through the website Go Fund Me.
