PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - Maine Medical Center in Portland is offering voluntary early retirement to about 400 employees.
President and CEO Richard Petersen says in a memo to staff that financial challenges have forced the hospital to look for ways to reduce expenses and improve its financial stability.
In the letter, Petersen says more information about the voluntary buyouts will be provided next week.
Matt Paul, Maine Medical's director of communications, said Friday that the hospital has not yet notified the employees who are eligible for the program.
