PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A team of seven rowers is taking to the seas and traveling from Rockland to Mystic Seaport, Connecticut in a replica 30-foot whaleboat.

We caught up with them before they left Portland Yacht Services to continue their journey.

The goal is to make it to Connecticut by next Friday to celebrate the history of the last surviving whaling ships from the 1800s that are at a museum there.

Students from the Apprenticeshop in Rockland built the boat their traveling in by using old plans from other boats.
