NORWICH, New York (WSTM) -- Authorities have charged four adults after police found 12 people, including six children, living in squalid conditions in a rural North Norwich, New York home.

The Chenango County Sheriff's Office says deputies and employees of the Department of Social Services' Child Protection Unit found the children living in unsanitary conditions in a home at a trailer park in North Norwich, about 45 miles southeast of Syracuse.

The family owned two trailers and appeared to be primarily living in the one that is in the worst condition. County code enforcement inspectors have condemned both of the trailers.

The children, ages 9 to 17, were removed from the home and placed with relatives. Cutting says two of the kids were found naked when police arrived at the home.

Seven dogs living in another trailer were taken to a local animal shelter.
