A priest, a doctor and the Prince of Denmark walk into a bar. That could be the tagline for the latest production at Portland Stage Company, the comedy "Wittenberg." It's a tale of trouble brewing at Wittenberg University as professors Martin Luther and Doctor Faustus duel for the allegience of their pupil, Prince Hamlet. From tennis and beer to soliloquies over skulls, the imaginative comedy of 17th century college life mixes slapstick and wordplay with a philosophical exploration of reason versus faith, played out in a zany spin on classic characters, real and imaginary.

"Wittenburg" will run at Portland Stage Company through May 19th. For showtimes and ticket information click here: PORTLAND STAGE COMPANY
