BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER)-- What do you get when you combine a fun activity with a beautiful day and a good cause. You get an MDA Hop-a-thon at the Hilltop School in Bangor.
Students and staff went outside today and hopped for 2 minutes to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy. Organizers say it's a great way to learn about an important issue while the kids have fun at the same time. The students raised money over the past few weeks from family and friends.
Executive Director of the Hilltop School, Stacy Shaffer says, the money donated to MDA will stay here in Maine. Shaffer said, "we picked this cause because it exemplifies for the kids that no child is perfect, no person is perfect and we all have our own individual strengths and weaknesses and that they can do something to help. "
School officials say they are not sure yet just how much they have raised but the history of their Hop-a-thon has been very sucessful
