OLD ORCHARD BEACH, Maine (AP) - The former town manager of Old Orchard Beach is asking for damages and his old job back in a lawsuit filed against the town.
A lawyer for Mark Pearson filed an amended complaint last week in York County Superior Court.
The Journal Tribune reports that the lawsuit alleges by terminating Pearson's employment in February without cause and by not following due process requirements, the town breached the employment contract and violated the town charter, state law and the Maine and U.S. constitutions.
The suit says as a result, Pearson has suffered damages including lost wages, benefits and damage to his reputation.
The lawsuit also alleges that the town, its residents and town council have made "false and defamatory statements" about Pearson.
