Vancouver, BC (Sports Network) - Marcel Granollers and Marc Lopez captured a 4-6, 6-4, 6-7 (4-7), 6-3, 6-2 victory over Daniel Nestor and Vasek Pospisil to keep Spain's hopes alive in an opening-round tie with Canada in the 2013 Davis Cup.

The Spaniards, who trail Canada 2-1, fell behind early, but won 8-of-10 points at the net to capture a second-set victory. After losing a third-set tiebreaker, Granollers and Lopez rallied in the fourth and fifth sets to capture the win.

Milos Raonic and Frank Dancevic came through with singles wins on Friday to give Canada a 2-0 lead over a depleted Spanish squad in the first round of the 2013 Davis Cup.

The five-time champion Spaniards were ousted by the Czech Republic in last November's finale, but entered this year's tournament without their top three stars in 11-time Grand Slam winner Rafael Nadal, world No. 4 David Ferrer and 11th-ranked Nicolas Almagro.

Nadal has been sidelined since June due to tendinitis in his left knee, while Almagro withdrew from the event last week because of a leg injury.

Granollers will take on Raonic and Albert Ramos will face Dancevic in Sunday's singles rubbers.

The winner in Vancouver will advance to face the Croatia-Italy victor in April's quarterfinals.
