PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - It is now much more convenient for you to renew your drivers' license in Maine.

Triple-A has teamed up with the Secretary of State's office to offer renewals and replacements of drivers licenses and state id cards at some of it's offices.

A few months ago Triple-A started a pilot project offering the renewals at its office in Waterville. This morning it started offering the service at its Portland, Bangor and Augusta offices as well.

The new service is expected to cut down on lines at the state Bureau of Motor Vehicle offices, while providing customers with more locations to choose from when renewing their license.

"In New England, these partnerships exist in Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Massachusetts and all have proven to be very successful. Expansion of this program brings benefits to the motorists of Maine, one obvious is the motorists will have more options available to them with no added cost to the state", said Eric Cyr of AAA of Northern New England.

You do not have to be a Triple-A member to use the service at its offices.
