PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The Deering Rams useda quarterback with some Sweet moves to pull away from their archrivals, the Portland Bulldogs 28-14, in the 101st Maine Thanksgiving Day Classic.

Kenny Sweet kicked off the scoring for the Rams with a 6 yard TD run in the first quarter.

The Bulldogs answered back just before halftime. Ryan Ruhlin found Joe Nielsen for a tying touchdown pass, and the game was knotted 7-7 at thehalf.

Sweetfound the endzone againin the third quarter. Hedashed and darted52 yards to pay dirt, but theRams missed the extra point. It was 13-7.

Deering began pulling away in the fourth whenSweet struck again, this time throwing a touchdown passto Ricardo Delgado.The two point conversation made it 21-7.

The Rams put the game away when Sweet went 81 yards for his fourth and final scoring playof the day. He finished the day with 248 yards rushing on 21 carries. The Bulldogs would score a late touchdown, but it wasn't enough. Deeringhas won 10 of the last 11 Turkey day games, but Portland still leads the overall series 54-40-7.
