FALMOUTH, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - Senator Olympia Snowe has cast her final vote in a November election as a Senator, but she remains committed to bringing change to Washington from the outside.
In February Senator Snowe announced that she would not be running for her seat again due to the partisan atmosphere in Washington.
Snowe says the problem of partisan gridlock is rooted in a focus on party ideology instead of the needs of the nation.
She also says the campaign for her Senate seat shows that the country still needs to change laws about campaign spending.
The Senator is writing a book, which she says will deal with some of the issues of bipartisanship.
She's also planning to use much of the money from her campaign fund to start a foundation in Maine that will provide leadership training to teen age girls.
