SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER)- A man from South Portland is facing domestic violence charges.

And police say he tried to get away from them by jumping naked through a second story window.

Police were called to an apartment on Warren Avenue in Portland around quarter past one this morning for a report of a domestic violence attack in progress.

On arrival, police say Jeffry Matthews was hiding in a closet.
Police tried to restrain him but he wriggled out of his pants and jumped through a window on the second floor, hitting an awning before landing on the street and sprinting away, wearing only socks.
He didn't make it far, police used a taser to stop him not far down Warren Avenue.

He's facing a number of domestic violence charges and charges stemming from his attempt to flee. One police officer was hurt by the shattered window glass, but he is expected to make a full recovery.
