(NEWS CENTER) - The Maine Republican Party will be holding forums over the next two months in order for the public to become better acquainted with the Republican candidates for U.S. Senate.

Since Senator Olympia Snowe announced she would not seek another term in office, six people have taken to steps necessary to run in the party's primary election.

The candidates are:

  • Former State Senator Rick Bennett
  • Businessman Scott D'Amboise
  • State Senator Debra Plowman
  • State Treasurer Bruce Poliquin
  • Attorney General William Schneider
  • Secretary of State Charlie Summers

In a news release, The Party says questions will be collected from the audience and chosen at random.

The forums are free of charge and all but one will start at 6:00 PM. The Hancock regional forum starts at 1:00 PM.

  • Aroostook Region: Friday, April 6
  • Kennebec Region: Friday, April 13
  • Penobscot, Piscataquis & Somerset Region: Friday, April 20
  • Lincoln, Knox & Waldo Region: Friday, April 27
  • Cumberland & Sagadohoc Region: Wednesday, May 2
  • York Region: Wednesday, May 9
  • Washington Region: Friday, May 11
  • Hancock Region: Saturday, May 12
  • Androscoggin, Oxford & Franklin Region: Saturday, May 19

The actual locations will be released on Wednesday.
