SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Hundreds of women ran, swam and biked Sunday morning in the seventh annual Tri for a Cure to benefit the Maine Cancer Foundation.

More than 14,000 women participated this year, including nearly 200 cancer patients or cancer survivors. Together they raised $1,365,000 to fight cancer in Maine.

All of the money raised stays in Maine and provides funding for cancer research, education and patient programs, according to the Maine Cancer Foundation.

The women's-only triathlon consists of 1/3 mile long swim, a 16.5-mile bike ride and a 3-mile run.
