BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER)-- The Bark for Life relay brought people and their dogs out to the Hollywood Casino Raceway Saturday night to support the fight against cancer.
The event is the only k-nine friendly American Cancer Society relay in the state. Cancer survivors and their supporters along with man's best friend wore purple in support of the cause and walked around the race track. This is the third year for the event and it encourages awareness in not only humans but animals too.
"It's just kind of grown every year. It's evolved into this wonderful way to really celebrate the companionship and also the survivor-ship of not just humans but animals as well," said Organizer, Elizabeth Tilton.
All proceeds from the event went to the American Cancer Society. By the end of this year, the organizers of Bark for Life hope to have raised sixty five thousand dollars over the last three years.
